Judith Bourne
Dean, CILEX Law School

Judith is an experience HE Leader, having previously led Law Schools at St. Mary's University and the University of Roehampton, before taking up the position of Dean of CILEX Law School in 2024.

With a background as a barrister and legal advisor, Judith transitioned to academia in 1999. A first-generation graduate, Judith is passionate about using education as a tool for social mobility and advancing legal knowledge. 

With nearly 30 years of teaching experience in Land Law and Equity & Trusts, Judith considers teaching a privilege, sharing her experience with future generations. A Professor and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), she supervises Ph.D. students, serves as an external examiner and has published extensively on gender and legal history. 

Her current research includes editing volumes on gender and the legal profession and early women solicitors. Judith is an associate member of Normanton Chambers, an Academic Bencher of the Inner temple and plays and active role in commemorating women in law. She also sits on the Law Society's Learning and Development steering group and the executive committee of the Heads of University Law Schools.
